WHY THEY WORK

The secret? A synthetic material unique to Légère, meticulous computer controlled processing operations

and a team of ambitious and hardworking individuals who passionately believe in the Freedom to Perform.

Materials
Design Process

Cane is a unique material—lightweight, yet surprisingly stiff along the grain. That unique combination is what makes it vibrate so well. Reproducing those properties in a synthetic material isn’t easy—but it’s exactly what we’ve done.

Our reeds are made from a special formulation of polypropylene—a non-toxic, food-safe polymer you’ll also find in medical equipment, yogurt cups, and packaging. On its own, polypropylene is far too flexible for a reed. So we strengthen it through a process called orientation, which aligns the polymer fibers to dramatically increase stiffness. That’s the secret to the signature feel and response of a Légère reed.

Because our material doesn’t absorb moisture, Légère reeds don’t need soaking, never warp, and are ready to play right out of the case. They’re durable, hygienic, and can be cleaned easily with warm water and a mild detergent. It’s cane—refined.

The Légère Guarantee

Légère Reeds wants you to be completely satisfied with your purchase.

Everyone can enjoy their Légère reeds if they find their right strength. This is why we are proud to provide an Exchange of Strength Program within 30 days of purchase. If you are unsatisfied with your clarinet or saxophone reed, please begin the exchange process regardless of where you purchased it in the world.

Please be assured returned reeds are discarded after a quality check and are never resold.

Great for Classical music.

I don’t play much classical n similar styles but when I do I use my Yamaha 4C and just bought a French Cut in 2.50 strength. Sounds just like a great cane reed. Nice n dark sound.

.Len on tenor with a Leger reed as well as on the alto saxophone.

What a absolute surprise! I wasn't sure what to expect and once I took my breath a blew on my horn the most beautiful and pure tone I produced using the Legere reed gave me unexpected satisfaction. From the low register to the upper and into the altissimo range it was a delight that fulfilled my ideas of what an exceptional reed would be. The response in control is a delight

The classical sound I was looking for

I've got a bunch of different Legere reeds in my arsenal, I have a Signature that I've used for classical playing before, but had gravitated towards cane reeds instead as it just wasn't quite what I was looking for. I've also got two different American Cut strengths, a softer one for my metal jazz mouthpiece, and a harder one for my classical playing. I liked the response of the American cut on my classical mouthpiece, but it was a bit more edgy that I really wanted in most scenarios. This french cut while slightly less responsive feeling than my American cut, definitely brings out a seemingly richer and warmer tone that I was looking for. I am happy to have this option now, especially for playing in environments (like Church) where I've got short bursts of playing followed by stretches of sitting

Perfect for bass clarinet too!

Bought these reeds after hearing about them at a Bass Clarinet event and I couldn't believe the level of ease these reeds have opened up for me. They fit perfectly for my mouthpiece and horn combo. I couple this reed with a silverstein ligature.

Thank you for your kind review, it helps us continue doing what we love!
