WHY THEY WORK

The secret? A synthetic material unique to Légère, meticulous computer controlled processing operations

and a team of ambitious and hardworking individuals who passionately believe in the Freedom to Perform.

Materials
Design Process

Cane is a unique material—lightweight, yet surprisingly stiff along the grain. That unique combination is what makes it vibrate so well. Reproducing those properties in a synthetic material isn’t easy—but it’s exactly what we’ve done.

Our reeds are made from a special formulation of polypropylene—a non-toxic, food-safe polymer you’ll also find in medical equipment, yogurt cups, and packaging. On its own, polypropylene is far too flexible for a reed. So we strengthen it through a process called orientation, which aligns the polymer fibers to dramatically increase stiffness. That’s the secret to the signature feel and response of a Légère reed.

Because our material doesn’t absorb moisture, Légère reeds don’t need soaking, never warp, and are ready to play right out of the case. They’re durable, hygienic, and can be cleaned easily with warm water and a mild detergent. It’s cane—refined.

Solid, Reliable reed!

I'm a highschool student who doubles on oboe in my local symphony and during concert season at my school, and this reed has performed very well for me! The response as soon as I put the medium strength in my oboe was immediatley noticable, I was a little shocked. Still, intonation issues are present but I can work with it. Thank you Legere!

We're so thankful for your positive review and are glad you had a great experience!

INCREDIBLE

I abselutely love this reed. I would play this in rehearsals ALWAYS. I also would feel extremely comfortable playing on this reed in a performance. A little more resistant than I'm used to, but adapting and getting used to it comes quickly. I have been complimented many times on sound quality, intonation is perfect on my instrument, obviously you have to get used to tendency. Projection and dynamics are the only thing i would like to see future improvement with, or making a seperate american reed series that focuses on such. Very happy, will definitely purchase again, regularly.

Thanks for taking the time to share your experience in such a kind way. We're so happy you're satisfied with your purchase.
