For over a decade, Légère has been my sole reed choice. I recorded my debut album on Légère’s French Cut series, whose even response and warm, transparent timbre satisfy the rigorous acoustic demands of classical saxophone performance. As both a performing artist and educator, what I value most is Légère’s reliable craftsmanship and ongoing dedication to acoustic research.
Yao Lu is an internationally acclaimed classical saxophonist recognized for his refined artistic interpretation, versatile performance technique, and extensive cross-border artistic influence across Asia, Europe, and North America.
In 2020, Yao Lu was awarded a full scholarship to pursue his Artist Diploma at the Royal College of Music, London, under the tutelage of Professor Kyle Horch. During his doctoral studies, he was honored as a Christopher Hogwood Scholar and a recipient of the prestigious Robert Sutherland Award, in recognition of his outstanding academic and artistic achievements.
Subsequently, Yao attained top ranking in the entrance examination for the Royal Conservatory of Brussels, where he completed his Master of Music in Classical Saxophone. He received elite training from preeminent international saxophonists Vincent David and Alain Crépin, further consolidating his professional performance foundation and international artistic perspective.
Yao has collaborated with preeminent professional orchestras across Europe and North America, including the Toronto Symphony Orchestra and the Antwerp Symphony Orchestra. He maintains an active international performing and teaching schedule, regularly presenting solo recitals and masterclasses globally.
