William Chien

Dr. Chien has served as a committee member in the First Asian Saxophone Congress and was invited to be the judge for the jazz competition of the Congress in 2016. He assisted many other important saxophone events such as Taiwan International Saxophone Summer Camp and Taipei International Jazz Camp. Dr. Chien has previously served on the faculty as Assistant Professor of Saxophone at Taiwan National Tainan University, National Sun Yat-sen University, Taipei Fu-Jen Catholic University, Taipei Christ’s College, Kuang Jen High School and Taipei Hwa Kang Art School. He has been awarded the position of Teaching Fellow at the University of North Texas from 2010-2013. Since 2018, Dr. Chien directs saxophone ensemble and teaches lessons at Southwestern Adventist University in Keene, Texas, U.S.A. He also maintains a large saxophone studio in DFW areas, his students regularly achieve positions in All-State, All-Region and All-District bands.
In 2017, Dr. Chien started a tutorial YOUTUBE channel, released dozen videos of jazz and saxophone teaching. Within a year, those videos already got more than 300,000 views.
