Tiago Delgado

Clarinetist and Teaching Artist

Brazil and Canada

With Légère reeds, I no longer feel the need to constantly adapt my playing to the reed. Whether I’m performing or teaching, I can pick up my clarinet, trust the reed, and focus on the music. More than just making playing easier, Légère has opened up a whole new spectrum of possibilities in how I experience the clarinet.

Brazilian-Canadian clarinetist Tiago Delgado promotes equity, diversity, and inclusion through collaborative music-making. He is a Teaching Artist at Toronto Sistema Academy. As a Teaching Artist, he has also worked with the New Brunswick Youth Orchestra (Sistema NB) and the Edward Said National Conservatory of Music in Palestine through Project: Music Heal Us / Novel Voices: Distance Learning. Tiago also served as a lecturer at Memorial University of Newfoundland.

Tiago has performed at chamber music festivals such as the 21C Music Festival, Ottawa Chamberfest, Stratford Summer Music, Toronto Summer Music, and Festival of the Sound. In orchestral settings, he has performed with the Canadian Opera Company and toured major concert halls in Brazil, including Sala São Paulo. He holds a Doctorate in Clarinet Performance from the University of Toronto and has studied at the Jacobs School of Music (Indiana University), Kent State University, and UFMG in Brazil.
