Valencian clarinetist Manuel Martínez stands out as one of the most prominent performers of his generation, acclaimed for his exceptional technique, sonic individuality, and artistic versatility. His international career as a soloist has brought him to some of the world’s leading concert halls, including Muddy Concert Hall in Dallas, Murchison Performing Arts Center in Denton, Abbot Concert Hall in Wisconsin, the ADDA Auditorium in Alicante, L’Auditori in Barcelona, and the iconic Palacio de Bellas Artes in Mexico City.
A passionate advocate for contemporary creation, he has premiered numerous works written specifically for him, performing them with ensembles and orchestras across the globe. His artistic vision is reflected in groundbreaking interdisciplinary projects such as “Sonoro Infinito”, a solo performance in which he uses technology to expand the sonic boundaries of the clarinet and explore new aesthetic dimensions.
He has worked closely with internationally acclaimed composers including Arturo Márquez, Paquito D’Rivera, Johan de Meij, Daniel Freiberg, Emilio Solla, Bernat Vivancos, Joan Magrané, and José María Sánchez-Verdú, making a significant contribution to the development of the 21st-century clarinet repertoire.
As an orchestral musician, he has been invited to perform with world-class ensembles such as the SWR Symphony Orchestra (Stuttgart), Les Dissonances (France), MúsicAeterna (Russia), and the Utopía Orchestra, under the direction of renowned conductor Teodor Currentzis, with whom he tours regularly.
Since 2008, he has been based in Barcelona, where he serves as principal clarinet of the Barcelona Municipal Band and is a founding member of the Barcelona Clarinet Players, a quartet known for its dynamic artistic presence and acclaimed recordings.
In 2024, he released his debut solo album, “LIVE SESSION”, and curates his own publishing line with Proventis Music. Manuel Martínez is a Henri Selmer Paris artist and plays with Légère reeds.
