Fangyi Niu is a saxophonist and educator and currently teaches saxophone at the Harbin Conservatory of Music. He studied at the Central Conservatory of Music and Arizona State University, where he earned Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees in Classical Saxophone Performance.

Niu has received top prizes in the MTNA National Chamber Music Competition, ENKOR International
Chamber Music Competition, as well as Third Prize at the Fischoff National Chamber Music Competition. He was also a semi-finalist in the M-Prize International Music Competition.

Niu has been using Légère reeds for more than ten years, both in his own playing and in his
teaching, and has introduced Légère reeds to many of his students.
