WHY THEY WORK

The secret? A synthetic material unique to Légère, meticulous computer controlled processing operations

and a team of ambitious and hardworking individuals who passionately believe in the Freedom to Perform.

Materials
Design Process

Cane is a unique material—lightweight, yet surprisingly stiff along the grain. That unique combination is what makes it vibrate so well. Reproducing those properties in a synthetic material isn’t easy—but it’s exactly what we’ve done.

Our reeds are made from a special formulation of polypropylene—a non-toxic, food-safe polymer you’ll also find in medical equipment, yogurt cups, and packaging. On its own, polypropylene is far too flexible for a reed. So we strengthen it through a process called orientation, which aligns the polymer fibers to dramatically increase stiffness. That’s the secret to the signature feel and response of a Légère reed.

Because our material doesn’t absorb moisture, Légère reeds don’t need soaking, never warp, and are ready to play right out of the case. They’re durable, hygienic, and can be cleaned easily with warm water and a mild detergent. It’s cane—refined.

The Légère Guarantee

Légère Reeds wants you to be completely satisfied with your purchase.

Everyone can enjoy their Légère reeds if they find their right strength. This is why we are proud to provide an Exchange of Strength Program within 30 days of purchase. If you are unsatisfied with your clarinet or saxophone reed, please begin the exchange process regardless of where you purchased it in the world.

Please be assured returned reeds are discarded after a quality check and are never resold.

Consistent results!

As a doubler, I love being able to pick the instrument up and have it respond with no issues. The American cut Tenor reed by Légère works great with my Morgan Excalibur mouthpiece and takes the worry out of constant reed adjustment.

Thank you for your kind review, it helps us continue doing what we love!

Bright but good

This reed sounds a bit brighter than my normal reeds, but is a good steady reed to have on hand for jumping in during jazz jam sessions

Thanks so much for your review, we appreciate your support!

Great consistent reed

As a return customer, I'm very happy with my American Cut tenor reed. What I love about these reeds is their consistency. The one I bought recently was just as great as the American Cut reed I already have (I got this one as a backup). It's so nice not to have to break in a reed or otherwise get used to it. I use these on all my saxes, but since tenor is my main horn, it's important to be able to just slap it on and play.

We appreciate your thoughtful comments, thanks for sharing!

Smooth and Smokin’

I am new to Legere Reeds. I’ve played with synthetic reeds before, but none can compare to Legere. I play mostly Blues and Rock and the American Cut is very responsive for me. I’m an amateur, but I noticed a big difference between cane reeds and Legere reeds. I was very happy when one of your agents recommended the American Cut based on what I play and the strength that I’ve been using. And I enjoyed watching your videos. That are very informative. So from now on, it’s Legere all the way!

We’re so glad to hear that you’re enjoying it, thank you!

America cut

This reed is amazing! Just pick up your sax and play! It’s been easier to nail the low notes which I absolutely love!

Thanks so much for your review, we appreciate your support!

Still Love American Cuts.

As a tenor player in a dance band, these provide the power, durability and projection I need to blow my face off but not exhaust my chops or have the reed collapse under pressure. So much more consistent than wooden reeds. These bat 100%!

We're so thankful for your positive review and are glad you had a great experience!
