How can we help you?

Does the type of clarinet (Bb, bass, Eb) affect reed selection?

You are here:

Sometimes! The type of clarinet can affect reed strength. Bb clarinets often use 2.50-4.25 strength reeds, bass clarinets sometimes require stronger reeds, usually in the 3.00-3.50 range, and Eb clarinets might use slightly stronger reeds, around 3.25-3.75. Always choose a reed strength suited to the instrument and your playing level.
