Is it possible to repair a broken Legere reed?

If a Légère reed is broken, there is no way to fix it. If the reed splits, it cannot be glued, heated, or taped back together.

However, not all “splits” actually go through the reed. Often, it may simply be what’s called a “craze line,” which looks like a crack or split, but it in fact does not go through the reed entirely. The majority of these craze lines do not affect tone at all, but some are indications that the reed may lengthen their lifespan by rotating other Légère reeds into your sessions.
