My reed feels fine but sounds dull; is it time to change it?
You are here:
If the reed feels fine but sounds dull, it may be too old or have lost its responsiveness. Reeds naturally lose their vibrancy after repeated use.
A Legere Reed lasts much longer than a standard cane reed, so the loss of vibrancy occurs over a longer period of time, but it will still happen eventually.
