"Before switching to Légère I used to spend countless hours working with cane reeds to try to get them to perform better. When I finally switched I was surprised at the rich, pure tone I was able to produce, the amazing dynamic sensitivity- and how much time I saved by using them! I feel like a great reed should allow an artist to focus on the music, not the equipment, and Légère lets me do just that. Thanks for an amazing product!”"- Sam

Sam Davidson is a clarinetist and composer who specializes in contemporary improvisation, electronic music and the EWI, a breath-controlled synthesizer. He studied clarinet at the University of British Columbia with Wesley Foster and Cris Inguanti, as well as being mentored in jazz and improvisation by composers Fred Stride and Giorgio Magnanensi.
Sam is a member of acclaimed Canadian indie-rock band Brasstronaut, who has toured extensively across Canada, the UK and Europe and whose music has been frequently featured on the CBC, BBC, and NDR. He is also a member of SpaceMelt, and inter-disciplinary art ensemble founded at the Banff Centre for the Arts in 2009 with contemporary recorder player Terri Horn, and visual artist Michael Markowsky.
His solo project, Skim Milk, is rooted in a love of exploring old music and mixing it with contemporary ideas. It takes on many forms, however especially that of a unique brand of instrumental hip-hop. He has released four albums: Skim Milk (2014), Ghosts of Jazz (2015), The Monarch Sessions (2016), and Fingerprints (2017).
