Quadrophobia
The Quadrophobia Wind Quartet is an absolute novelty in the Italian musical panorama. In fact, it is unusual in chamber music tradition that the timbres of clarinet, saxophone, bassoon and bass clarinet come together in search of new sounds and without exclusion of genres; from baroque music to the experiments dedicated specifically for the group, passing through jazz, popolar folk music and other genres. The members of the quartet ARE PLAYING with important Italian Symphony Orchestras and with the most important Wind Orchestras of the Italian National scene. At the same time, the members are performing solo concerts in varius formations.
The Quadrophobia Wind Quartet has performed all over in the North of Italy for concerts, cultural events and festivals. In the 2011 and 2015 the quartet performs for the NATO during occasion the Italian Repubblic Day and for the International Charity Day.
The attention of the quartet to social issues led him to be, from 2012, testimonial of “Associazione Priamo”, born with the purpose of supporting cancer patiens and family.
Many composers have dedicated to the quartet arrangements and original songs. The first album of Quadrophobia Wind Quartet, “In Quattro”, presented in a tour in many municipalities and theaters, acclaimed from audiences and critics. The album is avaible for purchase on the major digital store such as iTunes, Amazon, Deezer and available for listening on Spotify.
During 2016, the Quadrophobia Wind Quartet will be working for the next album, dedicated to the many styles and tradictions of the American Music.
The quartet’s members are Daniel Roscia (clarinet), Carlo Barbieri (saxophones), Mattia Rullo (bassoon) and Stefano Giacomelli (bass clarinet).

Carlo Barbieri
Carlo Barbieri graduated in Saxophone Summa Cum Laude at the State Conservatorium “L. Marenzio” in Brescia in July 2005. He attended a three years post diploma course with Saxophone player Mario Marzi and one year advance level master class with J. M. Londeix in Conservatorium “G. Verdi” in Milan. Furthermore in 2010 he got his diploma in Jazz Music at the Conservatorium “L. Campiani” in Mantua.
Winner of several National and International Music competitions for soloist cathegory and the chamber music cathegory with the piano‐sax duo Barbieri‐Facchi: International Music Competition “Città di Manerbio” (1999, 2002); National Music Competition Città di Giussano” (2002); Competition for Woodwinds “Chimeri” at Conservatorium L. Marenzio in Brescia (2004); International Music Competition of Chieri” (2004); International Chamber Music Competition for woodwinds “Città di Grosseto” (2005); National Chamber Music Competition “Luigi Nono” in Venaria Reale; European Music Competition “Città di Moncalieri” (2008).
He attended various master classes in Italy and abroad, with internationally renowned saxophone players: Federico Mondelci, Arno Bornkamp, Henk van Twillert, Markus Weiss, Eugene Rousseau, Claude Delangle, Jean‐Denis Michat, Vincent David, Philippe Braquart, Christian Wirth, Fabrizio Mancuso…
Since 2008 he is a member of the “Hallo Mr. Sax”, saxophone orchestra conducted by Mario Marzi. He collaborated with “Pomeriggi Musicali” Orchestra in Milan and with “Orchestra Sinfonica di S. Remo”.
Stefano Giacomelli
Stefano Giacomelli graduates in Clarinet at the Conservatory of Music “Arrigo Pedrollo” of Vicenza. Meanwhile, he continued studying bass clarinet in workshops and masterclass organized by the Internations Academy of Bass Clarinet “J. Horack” and studying with the soloist Paolo De Gaspari.
He has participated in numerous master classes and courses that is specifically dedicated to orchestral repertoire, clarinet and bass clarinet soloist.
He collaborates with several Symphony Orchestras and Wind Symphony of the Italian territory and opera houses such as the “Teatro Grande” in Brescia and the “Teatro Donizzetti” in Bergamo.
In parallel of the concert activity, he studied orchestral conducting both for the symphonic orchestra and for symphonic wind band, performing in many theaters to concert events and festivals.
His interest in all kind of music led him to having many formations and project, for concert and studio recording.
Daniel Roscia
Graduated at the Conservatory “F.A. Bonporti” in Riva del Garda with the Professor Lorenzo Guzzoni, where he received his diploma with 110, lode and honors.
He takes part of the “Orchestra Nazionale dei Conservatori” as 1st clarinet in 2012 and is he was selected as solo (duo) with the Haydn Orchestra of Bolzano; He has also collaborated with Ensemble Zandonai, the Conservatory Orchestra F. A. Bonporti of Trento, Orchestra Haydn, Istituzione Sinfonica Abruzzese, Orchestra of the International Piano Festival of Brescia and Bergamo; He has participated in last season in Trentino Music Festival on the occasion of courses of the Music Academy International in New York.
He is full member of for the European Union Youth Orchestra (EUYO), and is suitable for the Italian Youth Orchestra, Orchestra Teatro Olimpico in Vicenza and in 2015 was re-elected 1st clarinet in the Orchestra Nazionale dei Conservatori; In 2015 won the “Abbado Prize” contest held by the Ministry of Education in the clarinet section.
He has collaborated on several CD recordings and DVDs with orchestras, chamber ensembles and has collaborated with Mediaset and Rai in different programs and live television.
He recently recorded for Scomegna, an unreleased piece by Stéphane Kregar for clarinet and wind orchestra.
He is a member of the “Quadrophobia” quartet born in 2010 (Clarinet, Sax, Basson, Bass Clarinet); With them he has recorded the CD “In Quattro” in the ‘summer of 2012; is part of the duo “Corde in Aria” was formed in 2013.
Mattia Rullo
Mattia Rullo graduated in bassoon at the “Luca Marenzio” Conservatory in Brescia, Italy, under the guidance of Maestro Luca Reverberi.
Mattia collaborates with several wind and symphony italian orchestras. In addition to Quadrophobia Wind Quartet he is a member of Trio Mercadante, Ensamble Emporté and other chamber groups. He combines the activity of instrumentalist with the passion of conducting. Mattia Rullo is currently the bassoon professor at the Liceo “Veronica Gambara” of Brescia and in addition to this he also teaches at several music academies of the city.
