Saxophonist Pei Yin 尹沛 was born in 1984 in Beijing, China. He began his study of classical saxophone at the age of 11 with Prof. Qing-Quan Wang in Beijing. At the age of 14, Yin won the First Prize at the Competition of International Wind Instrument Festival in Xi’an, China.
Yin continued his study in Berlin, Germany at the Hochschule für Musik “Hanns Eisler” Berlin (Academy of Music Berlin) with Prof. Detlef Bensmann. In 2007, Yin received the Diplom-Musiker degree in Saxophone Performance with highest distinction.

Pei Yin performs as a soloist and chamber musician at all kinds of prestigeful music festivals in Europe, the United States, and Asia. In 2008 Yin performed at the international prominent Kurt Weill Fest as a member of the Bensmann Saxophone Quartet in Dessau, Germany, as well as in 2006 the Brecht Festival at the “Berliner Ensemble” theater in Berlin, and also recorded by the Rundfunk Berlin-Brandenburg (rbb). He also performed as soloist at the Karg-Elert Festtage, Berlin 2004; the SeptemberFest, Boston 2011; the Neue Nationalgalerie, Berlin and the Museum of Fine Arts, Boston. Yin was the first Chinese saxophonist who performed at the Berliner Philharmonie Concert Hall.
In 2010 Yin won the Longy Concerto and Honors Competitions and performed Glazunov’s saxophone concerto at the Pickman Hall in Boston with the Longy Chamber Orchestra under the conductor Julian Pellicano.
During 2010 to 2012, Yin continued his study with Prof. Kenneth Radnofsky and received an Artist Diploma from the Longy School of Music of Bard College.

Yin was the first saxophonist and the single winner to receive the prestigious Roman Totenberg Award in 2012.

Furthermore, Yin was appointed as the jury member of the Chinese Music Instrument Competition by Foundation for Chinese Performing Arts in Boston.
