Louis-Philippe BONIN is a saxophonist and pedagogue performing regularly in concert as a soloist or in chamber music, both on the local and international scene. He attends numerous prestigious events such as the World Saxophone Congress (Strasbourg, France), the Jean-Marie Londeix International Saxophone Competition (Bangkok, Thailand) and the Saxophone European University (Gap,France). In June 2014, he was invited to perform for the Sax-Story International Saxophone Festival as a soloist with the Moldova Philarmonic Orchestra, making him the youngest saxophonists in Canada to perform on a professional level.
In 2015, he was invited by the SMCQ (Montréal Contemporary Music Society) to perform in a child’s concert called “Les Fonoformies” as well as to take part in a concert celebrating the music of important Quebec composers such as Claude Vivier, Gilles Tremblay, Philippe Leroux and John Rea with Ensemble Saxologie, a saxophone quartet he founded in 2012. In 2016, he will partake in the performance of Karel Husa’s alto saxophone concerto with the OVNI wind band.
Louis-Philippe is a Professor of Saxophone and chamber music in many institutions such as the St-Lawrence College in Montréal.
